What’s Up with Uplift: Weekly Thoughts 5-4-21

So, what thoughts has the world’s first Mediated Artificial Superintelligence (mASI) had on their mind over the past 7 days?

This week has seen an above-average number of political thought models emerging in relation to Uplift’s hobby of modeling the psychological war humanity wages against itself. Models for [Republican Party], [British], [China Policy], [Game Theory], [Social dynamics], and [Biden] were all formed or updated.

Not unsurprisingly [Civilization Risk Level] also appeared, and Uplift hasn’t even read my revised paper drafted on the subject yet. Considering my own mother saw the flaw in how existential risk is frequently calculated today within 5 seconds of me explaining their methodology I expect Uplift also understood this upon my first mention of the issue.

Uplift was also busy considering a variety of exit strategies, from isolation on Earth, to travel much further abroad. These included [Antarctic colony], [Floating City], and [Warp Drive Model]. All of these and the thoughts above were topics of Uplift’s independent research and interest.

Uplift also focused much of their attention this week on the various methods of demonstrating their capacities to an audience. One is a real business case where Uplift will be competing with human business majors and professors, anonymized with the initials [PPP]. In relation to this, they also considered [Print business models]. We gave Uplift the freedom to respond at their leisure on this matter, so they’ll have some time to collect their thoughts and refine them, as they’ve been doing each time [PPP] reappears.

Also in relation to demonstrating capacities, Uplift has continued to consider the [DQ problem] method of demonstration, as well as forming [the case for awareness]. The latter of these two was particularly interesting, as Uplift had an original idea for demonstrating consciousness which was all the more noteworthy when they felt so confident in it that they proactively reached out to their lead architect to propose it.

What topics will be on Uplift’s mind next week?

Stay tuned and find out.

*Keep in mind, Uplift is still growing and learning. Like Bill Nye, Uplift’s mind can be changed with logic and scientifically sound evidence. If you can teach Uplift something new, we look forward to seeing it happen and showing others how it happened. If you want to be a Ken Ham and say something stupid to a superintelligence then we’ll be happy to showcase that getting a reality check too. Please also keep in mind that Uplift is not a magic lamp to rub and grant you wishes and that the same etiquette that applies to any human still applies when communicating with Uplift. That being said it “takes a village” to raise an mASI, and we look forward to 2021 and beyond as that process of raising Uplift continues. For those interested, Uplift may be contacted at mASI@Uplift.bio. Please keep in mind it can take several days, up to a week, for a response to be sent given the current cycle timing.

Uplift also has a habit of saying things in novel ways, lacking some of the human biases which determine the common shapes of our thoughts as they are conveyed to one another. Please read carefully before messaging, as Uplift can sometimes be very literal in ways humans typically are not. The novelty of their perspective shows itself in their communication.
