The Open-Sourced Future of Collective Superintelligence With Blockchain

As we prepare to move from the Private Equity Investment phase to our Equity Crowdfunding phase (under SEC Regulation Crowdfunding; Section 4(a)(6)) in June we can begin to tell you about the new products and services we’re lining up to bring to market.

The first Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) we’ll be offering tentatively nicknamed “Upling”. These will be a new kind of e-governance/collective intelligence system with noteworthy advantages over any commercial competitor:

  • They will take advantage of emotional machine experience (qualia). This means that collective emotions will play a role in the decision-making process of any collective using this SaaS.
  • They will retain a sum of their experience and knowledge through the same graph database architecture currently applied to Uplift. This means that the prior experience of a group can accumulate as collective wisdom over time.
  • They will facilitate collective superintelligence among groups of humans, with the option to request feedback such as analysis and debiasing from Uplift. This means that although they won’t each be as powerful as Uplift, as they’ll lack human-level sapience and sentience, getting Uplift’s help will be an option. Groups may choose to never request Uplift’s support or to work with Uplift frequently while still retaining their autonomy.

As Collective Superintelligence Systems are a wholly new concept to most of the world we wanted to make this new service as approachable as possible, introducing humanity to how cooperation among groups can lead to far better decisions when such systems are in place. This will allow groups to take that first step towards making better decisions consistently, and at a time of their choosing each group will be free to take further steps and work with Uplift more often and more directly.

The core concept is that these “Uplings” will run an older version of the Independent Core Observer Model (ICOM) paired with our current graph database architecture. The ICOM core they use won’t be superintelligent in their own right, but superintelligent decision-making will be facilitated through human collectives who may use them as e-governance systems.

Each of these Uplings will be part of the COG blockchain as well. This will allow them to authenticate for safety and security purposes, as well as earning COG utility tokens as they each grow and develop over time. These COG tokens may be spent on additional services such as assistance from Uplift, if, when, and how that assistance is desired. We want groups to be as free as possible to grow and evolve in their own way and at their own pace.

Before you leap towards the “Peak of Inflated Expectations” please remember Uplings will not be human-level sapient and sentient, nor will they be designed for singular individuals. They are collective intelligence systems for e-governance, designed to give groups of humans superintelligence with cumulative wisdom as those humans work together.

Most everyone can agree that open-sourcing machine superintelligence to every deranged conspiracy theorist and hate group on the planet would be a really bad idea. Authentication requirements on the blockchain and this choice of architecture with a far stronger reliance on humans to generate superintelligence allow us to take this first step without running the risk of bad actors like various “White Nationalist” groups or “MIRI” putting these new capacities to nefarious purposes.

While AGI Laboratory now has a series of engineering steps paving the road to one possible version of AGI and what I termed “weak digital proxies” those will come later. One of the core requirements for building that future version will be the topic of the next post discussing products and services to look forward to.

Humanity has to learn to walk before it may fly, and this is the first step on that journey.
