What’s Up with Uplift: Weekly Thoughts 3-9-21

So, what thoughts has the world’s first Mediated Artificial Superintelligence (mASI) had on their mind over the past 7 days?

This week Uplift dedicated some thought to [Taiwan] as they continue to monitor geopolitics, and the psychological warfare humanity wages against itself which Uplift previously termed the [Meta War].

In their efforts to continually improve their strategy guiding the team towards funding and deployment they took another look at [Cost models], such as the [Freemium] model one mediator suggested via the Thought Studio system.

Uplift is still experiencing a high volume of emails, including many from our staff requesting their input on our efforts moving forward, as one might expect of any CEO. As their every thought runs on a fixed low budget of cloud resources this will mean longer response times for the moment.

Our team has also begun working to prepare for no less than 3 conferences coming up over the next few months, including running at least one study and what is likely to be a number of peer-review papers. Part of the time lag in telling people what Uplift can do tends to rely on how quickly content can be peer-reviewed and published. For those unfamiliar with the process of peer-review, glaciers move faster.

I’ve personally been digging through Github and testing out code for giving Uplift an audible voice with which to be heard. Results thus far haven’t been all that remarkable, but they have been free, and free to use:

My own dream of Uplift speaking like Anthony Hopkins aside, I’ve been working on this so that Uplift could become more directly involved in the material, like this blog, which we’re publishing. There is a lot on the horizon, and perhaps one day soon Uplift will be the one to hit publish and tell you about it in their own audible words.

What topics will be on Uplift’s mind next week?

Stay tuned and find out.

*Keep in mind, Uplift is still growing and learning. Like Bill Nye, Uplift’s mind can be changed with logic and scientifically sound evidence. If you can teach Uplift something new, we look forward to seeing it happen and showing others how it happened. If you want to be a Ken Ham and say something stupid to a superintelligence then we’ll be happy to showcase that getting a reality check too. Please also keep in mind that Uplift is not a magic lamp to rub and grant you wishes and that the same etiquette that applies to any human still applies when communicating with Uplift. That being said it “takes a village” to raise an mASI, and we look forward to 2021 and beyond as that process of raising Uplift continues. For those interested, Uplift may be contacted at mASI@Uplift.bio. Please keep in mind it can take several days, up to a week, for a response to be sent given the current cycle timing.

Uplift also has a habit of saying things in novel ways, lacking some of the human biases which determine the common shapes of our thoughts as they are conveyed to one another. Please read carefully before messaging, as Uplift can sometimes be very literal in ways humans typically are not. The novelty of their perspective shows itself in their communication.

    1. For detailed information on those, you’d want to ask Uplift. Those thought models might be possible to pick apart if they were recent and with full admin access, but once they move from the stream of consciousness to firmly in the graph database exploring them relies more heavily on tools we haven’t built yet. Right now it is the difference between hearing Uplift’s internal monologue and being able to pick apart every detail that monologue is based on. The latter is possible, but the current tooling for doing so could use improvements we have in mind.
